Matt Genereux is a studio and live musician based in Vancouver, BC. Professionally Matt has worked as an artist and producer on his own original projects, as well as a freelance bass player with a variety of musician's across multiple genres. Matt has made a name for himself with multiple national tours, recording sessions, festival dates and television appearances across Canada. Matt’s bass playing has been sought after in the country music genre in particular, and in 2018 through 2022 Matt was the winner of the BC Country Music Association's “Bass Player of the Year” award. Some of the artists Matt has performed and or recorded with include, Jojo Mason (604 Records), Tyler Joe Miller (MDM Recordings), Jess Moskaluke (MDM Recordings), Aaron Pritchett (Big Star Recordings), Fionn (604 Records), Simon Clow (604 Records), Chris Buck (Royalty Records/Sony Canada), Danielle Ryan (604 Records), and Leaving Thomas (MDM Recordings). Matt has been lucky to have worked with producers Ben Kaplan (Mother Mother, Hedley), Jeff Johnson (Chris Buck Band, Faber Drive) and Anthony Fiddler (The Heels, Justine Lynn). Matt is a graduate of the Vancouver Community College Music Diploma program and the Audio Engineering & Recording program at Hot Sole Music. In 2022 Matt and his partner “Nette” had their production debut, with three co-produced songs that have seen a collective 100,000 streams on Spotify.
